Question: How do you become a member?
Theoretically, every man and every woman can become a member of the Order. Naturally, acknowledging the statutes is a prerequisite. In practical terms, however, as a rule, personalities are proposed by the members of the Order. Successful professional work and voluntary engagement in the interest of the public at large is a precondition. Additionally, commitment to the democratically established state founded on the rule of law and to the principles of peaceful living proclaimed by the Unites Nations. Naturally, there must be a special interest in chivalrous customs. After a probationary period of time, there is a mutually agreed admittance in ceremonial form. Question: How much is the membership fee?
As of this date the fee for admittance in Germany amounts to € 800 covering the first annual dues, the costs of the mantle of the Order, the necktie medal respectively the sash for the lady. Add the costs for participating in the Order's events and for donation campaigns. In the consecutive years the annual fee is € 100. The commander's offices outside Germany have different regulations which can be inquired for at the respective national office.
